Our story
Commencing candle and soap making as a hobby to manage the stresses of a hectic life, our love of this craft quickly grew into a small business. Establishing Soapworked in 2015, our mission was to reduce our environmental footprint and avoid unnecessary chemicals in our products. This approach caught the interest of a couple of not-for-profit groups and we began supplying them with eco-friendly and affordable products. With family members in the dog grooming industry, we also developed a range of pet care products that have proven very popular with many dog groomers. Whilst we now have an established wholesale and retail client base, by remaining small, we can continue to have direct engagement with our clients to ensure our products meet their expectations. This also allows us to work with our clients to develop products that are customised to their specific requirements.
Our commitment to sustainability and reducing waste is at the forefront of our product development, and we constantly work with our clients to look for options to reduce single use plastics. Whilst we haven't been able to completely eliminate plastic use, we continue to strive towards this goal.
In 2018, we began to receive requests to teach others how to make soap and candles for themselves, which led to the construction of a dedicated workshop where we now hold regular classes. As a former adult education trainer and assessor, our Soapworked instructor ensures that all participants receive hands on training and skills in order to confidently create their own products at home. Our workshops have a maximum of four participants, ensuring that everyone has an opportunity to receive individual instruction and guidance. We also provide on going support and advice to all our students following our workshops.
Our studio which consists of a small showroom and a larger workshop, is located in Wheelers Hill, Victoria. The showroom is open by appointment only. Our products can be purchased online, and either shipped or collected by appointment. We offer contact-free collection, and can also deliver within 10 kilometres of Wheelers Hill. We are also happy to offer zoom appointments to discuss custom orders.
